Medical Massage
Medical massage is performed with the intent of improving conditions or pathologies that have been diagnosed by a physician; A wide variety of modalities or procedures are utilized to focus the treatment based on the diagnosed condition.
Sports Massage
Sports massage focuses on increasing blood and lymphatic fluid flow, reducing and eliminating pain and tender trigger points, and increasing the range of motion of the affected area. There are four distinct types of sports massage: the pre-event sports massage, the post-event sports massage, the restorative sports massage, and the rehabilitative sports massage. As the names indicate, each type of sports massage has a different focus for the athlete and is delivered at a different time in an athelete’s training and performance schedule.
Clinical Deep Tissue
Clinical deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. This technique is recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), or who have sustained physical injury.
Integrative Muscle Therapy
Integrative Muscle Therapy uses five styles of muscle therapy: effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber), and vibration/shaking. This combination has proved helpful in reducing pain and joint stiffness and improving function. Muscle therapy ranges from light to firm pressure as determined by therapist evaluation and client needs.
